According to the CWUR dataset (see previous post for link to dataset) the following countries have the indicated number of universities in the top 50 of ranked world universities.
United Kingdom 4
South Korea 1
The USA dominates the top 50 universities with more entries than the other seven countries combined.
What happens if we list the universities by patent ranking:
South Korea 6
United Kingdom 3
The US still dominates. After the US some Asian countries do well particularly S.Korea. Europe does not do so well.
