Northern Ireland Border Poll for United Ireland in the EU in response to Brexit

The following is neither in support of nor against calls for a Northern Ireland border poll.

A petition was started to require the UK parliament to debate a border poll for Northern Ireland. So far the petition has failed to meet the 10,000 signature requirement for success. The data is available here, in json format. The script in my code blog, here, can be used to parse the json and count the number of countries from where people signed the petition. The top ten countries are:

United Kingdom: 3553
Ireland: 64
Australia: 17
United States: 6
New Zealand: 5
Spain: 4
Germany: 3
France: 2
Canada: 1
Netherlands: 1

The majority or people who signed are in N.Ireland and mostly in constituencies which have a predominantly Nationalist/Republican electorate:

Interest in a border poll peaked one day after the EU referendum in June but seems to have declined since then - based on Google trends:

A recent poll commissioned by the BBC also suggests a lack of interest in a border poll.
